And Everything Else Goes For A Toss

Love is a complicated emotion. Those who feel it, understand it and those who don’t find it irrational and often, it makes no sense. But that’s the point — the love that makes sense is not uninteresting but they don’t make it to a work of art. It’s the irrational, stupid, insensible, irretrievable, irreparable and the kind of love that is beyond the shores of rhyme and reason, they are the ones that create poetry and that gives hope to humanity that maybe one day they can feel it or maybe even fall in such a kind of love.

However, that kind of love is fucking painful. It humbles you down. It breaks you apart. Every sinew of your body hurts. It deconstructs your whole being. It rips apart your belief system. For years, you might have believed something about yourself — I am cynical, I am logical, I do not allow emotions to overrule my better judgement — and love blows all of it into smithereens. To accept that you are in love with someone beyond any reason or rationale, requires you to accept a new reality where what was a few days/weeks back is not there anymore. To fall in that kind of love, you need courage man and the acceptance that it might not get reciprocated.

But here’s the fun part about that kind of love — it’s unreasonable so the love stays even if your heart gets broken. You’ll cry, you’ll sometimes struggle to breathe, you’ll stare at walls blankly, you might break down in the middle of the road, and out of nowhere, you might feel a tear or two runs down your cheeks while you are doing something else but you won’t be able to stop loving that person. It’s kind of tragic and heartbreaking but cute and if you are lucky enough to feel this once in you are life, anything lesser than this seems like a compromise.

And as the Beatles said, ‘All you need is love’.
