Deafening Silence

Silence has a language of its own. It says a lot more about a person when he or she is using it than when they articulate their thoughts. I’d say silence rather than action that speaks louder than words themselves.

Can you hear the shrill noise of the silence around you in the last couple of days? Aren’t you feeling uncomfortable about how nonchalantly people around you are living their lives while parts of our country burn and minority communities face the wrath of state-sponsored/tacitly-backed terrorism? If the answer is no then what was the moment when you decided to kill your humanity at the altar of hatred?

For how long will you go back to the 16th century, the 17th century, 1947 and 1971 to justify the merciless killings of your own countrymen? Is the difference between you and that RPF personnel just the possession of a gun? When did you agree to the weaponisation of your religion? When did you allow hatemongers to become protectors of your religion? When did you agree to tacitly support criminals using the name of Ram while lynching people of other faith?

When are you going to get out of this hate-filled trance and speak out?

Always remember, Fascists will forever need an imaginary enemy to justify their existence. Tomorrow that enemy could be you and no, your religious identity won’t matter because they will find a way to disagree with you and shut your dissenting voice. Speak out today so that someone else does the same when you are at the other end of the state’s boot.
